한국 R&B 음악을 대표하는 아티스트 범키가 그의 신앙적 고백을 담은 첫 CCM 앨범을 발매한다. 크리스천으로 살아온 아티스트 범키의 신념을 담은 이번 앨범은 '순종하는 사람'이라는 뜻의 'The Obedient'를 앨범 제목으로 정했다. 


총 10트랙으로 구성된 이번 앨범은 다양한 CCM 곡 중에서 많은 사랑을 받았던 명곡들을 범키가 직접 선별해 자신만의 스타일로 재편곡하여 수록하였는데, 여기에 CCM 아티스트 러빔의 멤버 사공정과 함께 작업한 신곡 '하나님의 숨결'까지 수록해 듣는 재미를 더했다. 


또한, 앨범 전곡의 피아노 연주와 편곡을 실력파 재즈 피아니스트 KTG박상현이 맡아 완성도를 높였고, 2번 트랙 '주님 말씀하시면'에는 SM 클래식스 소속 아티스트인 플루티스트 한지희가, 3번 트랙 'Way Maker'에는 범키의 아들 지아니가 각자 개성 있는 연주와 보컬로 참여해 앨범에 다양성과 활기를 선사했다. 특히 범키는 총 10곡 중 8곡의 믹스를 직접 진행하는 등 앨범의 전반적인 제작 과정에 남다른 애정과 노력을 쏟으며 다시 한번 음악적 성장을 증명했다.
