그리하여 우리는 서로에게 다정한 불빛이 되자.

먼 길을 가는 새들이 바다를 건널 때, 작은 나뭇가지를 물고 지치면 그 나뭇가지를 물 위에 띄우고 쉬어간단 이야기가 있다. 어딘가의 큰 공연장에서, 어두워서 위치를 미리 파악하지 않으면 어디 있는지 잘 알지 못했던 그 때, 깜박거리면서 만들어졌던 당신의 불빛을 보았다. 그것도 몇 번이나. 우리는 꽤 오랫동안 그 불빛을 마음에 넣어놓고 살았다. 하나씩 별처럼 환하게 떠올랐던 우리의 이름은 가장 어두운 곳에서 빛을 밝힌 다정한 당신의 마음으로 이루어졌다. 

어두워지면 불이 켜진다. 가장 어두운 시간에 가장 밝아지는, 혼자 있을 때도 함께 있게 되는 아이러니. 그러고 보면 우리는 단 한순간도 혼자였던 적이 없다. ‘나 여기 있어’ 라고 온 힘을 다해서 이야기해주는 작은 불빛. 처음부터 손전등처럼 우리의 앞을 밝혀주는 당신의 다정함 덕분에 우리는 오랫동안 걸어올 수 있었다. 서로의 캄캄한 앞을 밝혀 주면서. 천천히 지나게 되었던 그 하나하나의 밤들이 우리에겐 가장 환했다.

그 다정하고 안온한 마음에 기대어, 우리는 이 앨범을 당신에게 건넨다. 당신의 어두운 발 밑을 밝히길 바라며 우리의 불빛을 켠다. 당신이 우리에게 해준 것처럼, 우리는 당신에게 받았던 그 다정함을 조금이나마 돌려줄 수 있는 사람이고 싶으니까. 이상하고 또 자주 당신을 괴롭히는 일 투성이인 세상에서 이 앨범을 듣는 잠깐 동안은 당신에게 조금 더 다정하기를 바라본다. 당신이 하루를 살아갈 힘을 얻을 수 있었으면. 그리고 결국에는 오랫동안 우리를 밝혀준 당신이 얼마나 좋은 사람인지 알 수 있기를 함께 바라면서.

거듭되는 어제가 쌓여서 오늘이 되고 또 그 오늘이 모여서 우리의 기억이 되는 오랜 우리의 시간을, 작은 일상으로 시작해서 지구 전체로 퍼져 나가는 커다란 우리의 공간을 노래한다. 그렇게 시간과 공간이 모여 우리의 이야기가 되는 순간을 담았다.
